Our Plans & actions

What we are doing…

John setting a live capture trap on the sand dunes at Kaitōrete.
Guy setting an AT220 on the Wildside, with possum dog Scmack.

Our Vision for Phasing Through Banks Peninsula…

Phase 1: Elimination within the Wildside area and Kaitōrete. Effective control in the Port Hills and Whakaraupō / Lyttelton basin.
Phase 2: Wildside Elimination Area expanded, Kaitōrete maintained.
Phase 3:  The elimination areas meet the control areas of Port Hills.
Phase 4:  Aspirational vision for a Pest Free Banks Peninsula 2050 where elimination has been completed and a buffer established outside the Peninsula.

Other community work…

In the wider Banks Peninsula community, we have been focusing on mustelid suppression, working with landowners to install BT200 & DOC200 traps. There are now catchment-based community trapping groups in Le Bons Bay, Okains Bay, Robinsons Bay & Takamatua areas where trappers take control of their own local areas. Thanks everyone!
